With the principle that our greatest strength lies in our community, and focusing on the current project priorities Community. Knowledge. Resilience, AfroPolitan Berlin is now in its sixth year. We support Black people through our programmes (e.g., workshops, lectures, community meetings, discussion groups, seminars, cultural events, business coaching, etc.) to network, access alternative knowledge, and develop themselves more freely from the constraints of a dominant majority society. Our work is grounded in the differences and complex realities within Black communities.

Racism is one of the greatest obstacles to societal peace. Its effects hinder people from realizing their full potential, an immense loss not only for individuals but for society as a whole, one we can no longer afford. AfroPolitan Berlin combats racism and discrimination across society in a sustainable way and contributes to a more equal and balanced social coexistence. We do exactly the work society needs to prevent resurgent right-wing extremism and fascism. Our promotion of empowerment, participation, and personal and professional development for people who experience racism radiates positively throughout society.

In light of ongoing and current anti-Black racism, racist violence, the political climate, and the global Black Lives Matter protests, the work of civil, anti-racist, and empowering initiatives, as well as a strong Black civil society, is more relevant than ever. This requires stable structures and networks that, alongside civic engagement, also need long-term funding.

As a project with non-cost-covering funding, we need stable support to maintain this central space for community, self-development, empowerment, and shared learning. The events and developments of the last years have further intensified existing financial challenges. Through one-time or recurring donations or sponsorships, you can help us cover ongoing costs (such as rent, utilities, staff, freelance professionals, and public relations) and enable the implementation of our program offerings, as well as low-threshold participation.
