Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, in particular, creating Reels and short explanatory videos on Black issues—such as political education, current discussions, or insights into our community work. You’ll also promote our events on social media, maintain and further develop our Instagram channel, update our website, and help us create and send out our newsletter. We’d especially love to hear your own creative ideas and suggestions for our public relations efforts.
Your Profile
You should have an interest in Black issues, community work, and political education, as well as a good sense of visual communication tailored to your target audience. Ideally, you already have experience with Instagram—especially creating Reels—and are familiar with common content production tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar programs. Some experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is a plus. It’s also important to us that you work independently and in a structured manner. To be eligible for this position, you must be enrolled in a college or university.

The position involves 5–7 hours per week and offers flexible scheduling. We offer you insights into community organizing and Black educational work, space to contribute your own ideas, and the opportunity to work with a supportive, dedicated team. Compensation is provided as part of a working student position.

Internship in Public Relations and Program/Event Assistance
AfroPolitan Berlin is looking for a motivated team member and offers opportunities for personal and professional development through an internship with our project!
As an intern, you will support public-facing communications and assist with programme development and event management.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of project activities focused on empowerment, intersectionality, Afrodiaspora, Black cultures and history, and community building.

General Conditions
The earliest possible start date for the internship is in March. The internship lasts 3 to 6 months on a part-time basis. The main workdays are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. There is usually one evening event per week (mostly on Thursdays) and one weekend event per month where your help is needed.
Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will span various areas—as agreed upon and depending on your interests. These include, among other things, member and client support, answering phones and handling email correspondence, maintaining databases and websites, as well as press and public relations work with a focus on online marketing and social media. In addition, you’ll assist with program planning and implementation, as well as with event planning and support. Depending on your individual interests and skills, additional areas of responsibility may be added.
Your Profile
Ideally, you’ve already gained some initial experience in social media and are comfortable communicating via email and phone. Empowering Black communities in Berlin is a genuine priority for you, and you bring an interest in sustainable community work as well as an intersectional perspective. Openness to different cultures, people, and life experiences is a prerequisite. You also have a good command of Microsoft Office, excellent written and spoken German, and good English skills; knowledge of other languages is a plus. A proactive, reliable work ethic and a willingness to work evenings and weekends round out your profile.

Federal Volunteer Service
Afropolitan Berlin is a platform and community dedicated to Black perspectives, culture, and empowerment. We are committed to the long-term empowerment of Black communities and create spaces for dialogue, political education, and cultural engagement. As part of Forum Brasil e.V., we combine community work with cultural and educational programs. For anyone looking for more than just an internship, it is possible to complete a part-time Federal Volunteer Service program at Afropolitan Berlin.
General Conditions
The next available start date can be arranged. The program typically lasts 6 to 12 months on a part-time basis (at least 20.5 hours per week).
Your Responsibilities
In the Federal Volunteer Service you’ll help with, for example, public outreach, program planning, and event coordination. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to help design and implement projects focused on empowerment, intersectionality, the Afro-diaspora, Black cultures and history, and community building. You’ll also gain insight into the general operations and organization of a cultural center run by our sponsoring organization, Forum Brasil e.V.
Your responsibilities may include—subject to discussion and depending on your interests—areas such as member and customer support, answering phones and handling email correspondence, database and website maintenance, PR and online marketing (particularly social media), assistance with program planning, event planning and support, as well as the preparation and maintenance of indoor and outdoor spaces. Upon agreement, there is also the opportunity to set individual priorities or suggest additional areas of focus.
Your Profile
You are open-minded toward different cultures, people, and life experiences, and you are interested in sustainably empowering Black communities and have an intersectional perspective. We require strong proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as confidence in handling email and phone communications. You have excellent written and spoken German or English skills. A proactive, reliable work ethic and a willingness to work evenings and weekends round out your profile.
Please note that this is a part-time volunteer position intended primarily for people who already live in Berlin. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer assistance with immigration counseling.

FEDERAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE (Info in English)
For persons who are at least 27 years old it is also possible to carry out a part-time federal voluntary service with the project AfroPolitan Berlin.
In the Federal Volunteer Service you can, for example, support public relations communication, programming and event support. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in the conception and implementation of projects on the topics of empowerment, intersectionality, Afrodiaspora, Black cultures and history, as well as community building. You will also gain insight into the general work and running of a cultural centre (our supporting organisation, Forum Brasil e.V.). We offer experiences in an inter-/transcultural, critical, innovative and constructive working environment that is open to new impulses and project ideas.
Next possible start: by arrangement
Duration: usually 12 months, part-time (min. 20.5 hours/week)
Your tasks could be in the following areas by arrangement:
Member and customer support – Telephone service and mail traffic – Database and website maintenance – PR especially online marketing, social media etc. – Assistance programme planning & realisation – Event planning & support – Preparation & maintenance of indoor & outdoor areas – Possibility to bring in individual focuses or further fields based on your interests and skills
